About me
Hello, my name is Flo and I am an Art Psychotherapist registered with HCPC. In therapy, I view my role as a supporter who works alongside you to help you feel safe (or brave) enough to explore your inner world.
It is essential that therapy feels like your space. There can be as much or as little art-making/ talking as you wish. Prior experience or interest in art is not necessary to benefit from art psychotherapy.
I have worked with those affected by trauma, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, social isolation, complex grief, learning difficulties, and societal oppression (amongst others). My work is anti-oppressive, and I look to better my understanding of diverse lived experiences daily.
I also have prior lived experience of poor mental health (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in particular), and as such, I feel passionate about reducing stigma.
Compassion, empowerment, mindfulness, and play are all cornerstones of my practice.

FAQs
What is Art Psychotherapy?
Art psychotherapy is a form of therapy that uses creative expression through art-making to explore emotions, deepen self-understanding, and support emotional and psychological well-being. It is facilitated by a qualified art psychotherapist who has completed a Masters-level training in the UK and is registered with a professional body such as the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). There can be as little or as much art-making as you like. You don’t need to be “good” at art; what matters is the meaning behind the images and how they help you understand and process your thoughts and feelings. Supported by the therapist, this process offers a safe space to reflect, express yourself, and connect more deeply with your inner experiences
Can sessions be longer (or shorter) than one hour?
Absolutely! As long as it is pre-agreed between us, and my schedule allows it. The price will be proportionately adjusted to reflect this, i.e., an hour-long session at £60 would increase to £120 if extended to two hours.
Can I contact you in between sessions?
Yes, but not for immediate mental health care. Communications are kept via email and are for practical purposes only. I do not provide emergency mental health care outside of our scheduled therapy sessions.
Do you work with children or vulnerable adults?
As of yet, no. However, I plan to do so sometime in the future.
Is Art Psychotherapy right for me?
Art therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages, abilities and past life experiences. However, just as with other ‘talk therapies’, the client-therapist relationship plays a central role in therapy outcomes and sometimes, people just don’t click. The best way to know is to give it a try!
What art materials will I need?
For online sessions, ideally you’ll have a selection of drawing, painting and sculpting materials. If you are buying all art materials from scratch, you’ll need to budget for £50-£80, depending on the quality of materials. If you know that you’ll only want to use a specific material for the entirety of therapy, and would rather stick to a smaller art pack, that’s ok.
How frequent can sessions be?
As frequent as they need to be to benefit you, your lifestyle, and your finances. The frequency of sessions can be altered mid-therapy if circumstances or needs change.
Do I need to be ‘good’ at art to benefit from art therapy?
No! Art therapy is not an art class. You may not have touched a paintbrush since school, and that’s ok! There is no such thing as ‘bad’ art in art therapy.
